Excerpt from "Mind Her Manners," by Patty LaNoue Stearns, TRAVERSE Magazine, May 2005

"'Cheers,' says Edith merrily. She holds up her glass, a twinkle in her sapphire eyes, and lunch with the doyenne of refinement and gentility commences.... 'No one is born knowing how to dine!' Edith says. But the truth is she comes as close as anyone could. Since infancy she has observed and participated in the good life all over the world, thanks to her father's work as an importer/exporter, and her mother's ebellient nature. They entertained frequently. Edith lived in Hamburg, Germany, as a tot, then Shanghai, China, where she started elementary school. She spent her youth in San Francisco and Beverly Hills. She's a 90210 original-- she graduated from Beverly Hills High School-- and studied languages at University of California Los Angeles."

A Note from Edith: "Unfortunately, I can relate to the quote by John Steinbeck, author of The Grapes of Wrath, who said, 'I am sure of one thing--it isn't the great book I had hoped it would be. It's just a run-of the-mill book. And the awful thing is that it is absolutely the best I can do.'"
